Police have faced criticism for revealing personal information about missing mum Nicola Bulley.
Lancashire Police said the 45-year-old had struggled with alcohol and menopause issues.
They had told her family about the details, but many people, including MPs and privacy campaigners, reacted on social media.
The force had stated that Ms. Bulley had “suffered with some significant issues with alcohol which were brought on by her ongoing struggles with the menopause which had resurfaced over recent months.”
Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper said releasing such details was “very unusual.”
However, the police say it was important to clarify their meaning when discussing vulnerabilities.
Ms. Bulley disappeared while walking her dog after dropping off her two daughters at school on 27 January, and the police are investigating.
