Mark Moodie, 54, has been charged with the murder of Maureen Gitau, 24, who has been missing for more than three weeks.
Maureen Gitau was last seen on December 5, when she left her home on Evelyn Street in Deptford, Lewisham, London.
Her disappearance prompted an appeal from her family and an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
On New Year’s Eve, Mark Moodie was arrested and charged with Maureen Gitau’s murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who leads the investigation, stated that although Maureen Gitau’s body has not been found, it is believed that she has “come to serious harm and has likely been killed.”
Mark Moodie is set to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates‘ Court on Tuesday.
Maureen Gitau’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
