Three female guards at the UK’s largest prison, HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, Wales, have been sentenced to jail for having illicit relationships with inmates.
Jennifer Gavan, 27, pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office and was accused of accepting £150 to bring a mobile phone into the prison for an inmate.
Ayshea Gunn, 27, had a relationship with Khuram Razaq, a prisoner serving 12 years for conspiracy to rob, in 2019.
Emily Watson, 26, was sentenced for performing a sex act on an inmate in his cell on Christmas Day that same year.
In response to the incidents, the prison has launched anti-corruption training and introduced enhanced gate security to prevent similar incidents in the future.
