Former Manchester United ace Pogba is at the center of a controversy.

The France international’s involvement with Juventus took a back seat when he got suspended due to a positive drug test.

The suspension occurred shortly after Juventus’ impressive 3-0 victory against Udinese on August 20, a match where Pogba remained an unused substitute but was later picked for a random drug test.

The suspension was mandated by Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal, which verified the B sample’s counter-analysis, affirming its positive status.

Now, the fate of the player lies in the hands of the National Anti-Doping Tribunal, which is to determine Pogba’s penalty ā€“ a potential ban ranging between two and four years.

Reacting to the initial positive test, Pogba’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, said, “We are waiting for the counter-analysis, and until then, we cannot say anything. The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules.”

Uncertain Future at Juventus

Juventus now faces the challenge of deciding Pogba’s contractual fate.

The talented midfielder, who rejoined Juventus after a stint with Manchester United, has almost three years left in his current agreement.

However, Pogba’s return to Juventus could have been better.

His first season was out of action for about five months after knee surgery, followed by a groin injury sidelining him for three Serie A matches.

Despite the hurdles, Pogba returned to play, notably assisting in the Europa League semi-final against Sevilla.

Unfortunately, his campaign was marred by a hamstring issue, leading to him missing the season’s final four matches.

Addressing the controversy, Juventus’ coach, Massimiliano Allegri, voiced his concerns ahead of the Torino match.

“I did not know about the confirmation. I am sorry,” said Allegri.

“We are waiting for what is coming next, and it is useless to comment now. Humanly, I am sorry.”

As football awaits the tribunal’s decision, fans and stakeholders hope for a just resolution that respects the sport’s integrity while being fair to the athlete.
