A 4-year-old girl, Alice Stones, was killed in a dog attack in the garden of her home in Milton Keynes, UK, on Tuesday.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but the Girl was pronounced dead.
The dog involved was destroyed, and police have investigated the incident.
People, including a little girl, were seen laying flowers near the family’s home.
A neighbor reported hearing the Girl’s mother screaming after the attack.
The Girl’s grandfather, who lives nearby, described the tragedy as “horrendous.”
However, another neighbor, Rita Matthews, described the Girl as a “happy little girl.”
No one else was hurt in the incident, and no arrests have been made in connection with the investigation.
The police reassured the public that there was no danger to the wider community and urged people not to speculate about the circumstances.
Furthermore, the police asked the media to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
Superintendent Matt Bullivant said:
“This is a tragic incident in which we believe a child has been killed after being attacked by a dog.”
He added that the investigation is in the early stages and asked people not to speculate.
The police will have a large presence in the area while the investigation continues.
